  • The Anoka-Hennepin School District utilizes a variety of software platforms to assist with classroom instruction, assess student performance, provide meal services, send notifications to families, and perform necessary functions such as scheduling students, report cards, and transcripts. The purpose of this website is to provide stakeholders with additional information regarding these platforms and also the requirements we use to protect student data.

    How Are Contracts Or Privacy Agreements Handled in Anoka-Hennepin?

    Any purchase in the district that involves student data is reviewed prior to purchase. The district has requirements related to safeguarding student data required to be in contracts. The following is a list of some of the most important requirements.

    • All data created in the product or used to create accounts in the product remain property of the school district.
    • The vendor may not sell, share, or disseminate to others any student data outside of what is needed to provide the product or service.
    • No advertisements or marketing may occur with students when using the product.
    • Student data must be destroyed upon our termination of service within a reasonable timeframe.


    What Expectations Does Anoka-Hennepin Have For Employees In Regards To Student Data?

    As an education institution, employees have access to student information in a manner consistent with their job function. The school district has expectations of all employees to know and carry out their jobs in a way that keeps student data private.  Any contractors we work with must also sign confidentiality agreements in relation to student data.

    The Anoka-Hennepin School District utilizes a variety of technology-based systems for the purposes of classroom instruction, assessment, and to perform services such as report cards, transcripts and communications with parents and/or guardians. When contracting with companies, the district carefully examines data security provisions in contracts or agreements as well as the terms of the company’s privacy policy to ensure student data is protected. The safety and security of student data is of the utmost importance.

    Schools are newly required, this year, to provide annual notice of the technology-based products and services used for curriculum, assessment, or testing purposes, that contain student data elements. The district is also required to provide information about inspecting contracts or receiving further information regarding student data privacy safeguards.
